All Souls day is when the church remembers the faithful departed and especially our deceased relatives.
It occurs annually on 2 November immediately after All Saints day. We usually move it to a nearby Sunday and this year our All Souls day service will be on Sunday 29 October at 6.30pm at St Lawrence’s Church. We will sing some of our favourite hymns and then I will read out the names of our friends and family who have passed away. It is a moving and memorable service. I would encourage you to come, especially if you have not been before.
Then later on the same week The Bereavement Journey is starting again on Wednesday 1 November at 7.30 at the Vicarage. It is an amazing privilege to lead this course as we listen to one another describing how we lost our spouse or parents. And there is some brilliant input which gives us the language to talk about bereavement and helps us to understand how the loss of a loved one changes us and makes us stronger. Some who came on the course last time had lost a loved one in the last few months others many years ago but as a result of sharing together we have become good friends. If you have lost a loved one then I would encourage you to join us all are welcome.
