Come and See

The builders are now in the church and are making rapid progress. The church is closed Monday to Friday and we are grateful to Our Lady of Lourdes, Roman Catholic Church for welcoming us into their building for our funerals. St Lawrence’s is open Saturday and Sunday from 9.00 – 5.00 and we would love to invite you to “Come and See”.

Our vision is to love God, to become more like Jesus and to love our neighbours. We love God through our weekly worship and daily prayers and our church building is perfect for weekly worship. So the front of church will remain exactly the same. We become more like Jesus in home groups which happen in people’s homes. But our building was far from ideal for loving our neighbours in word and deed.

So Feltham Construction are building a new hall within the church, which will be separately heated so that BabySong, Toddlers, PowerPack, Tuesday communion and Coffee corner will all be warm enough to continue to meet through the year. There will be a new kitchen to comply with the legislation and we are doubling the number of loos… to two!

I feel as though, we are on a pilgrimage. We have left the old familiar place and we are travelling to a new place where loving our neighbours will be a key priority. So, I want to encourage you to come and see, to join us on this journey. It all feels a bit unfamiliar, but the good news is we travel together like an extended family and it feels as though God is drawing us closer to him and also closer together as we travel. It’s an exciting time!
