What do you think Jesus' vision statement would have been? It might have been something like "Love God and love your neighbours" (Mark 12) or may be "Preaching good news" sometimes called the Nazareth Manifesto (Luke 4) or may be "Make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28). At St Lawrences our purpose is something like "Loving God, Becoming more like Jesus and Loving our neighbours"

This term at St Lawrences we are going to be preaching about and discussing the Sermon on the Mount. It has so much content that that we are going to focus on Matthew 5 and discuss a huge range of topics including dealing with anger, acting with integrity, loving our enemies, responding to evil and influencing society.

I would love to encourage everyone to join one of our home groups. Jesus himself had a small group and we know their names; they were the twelve apostles! Our home groups typically start with tea or coffee before discussing a short bible passage. We then pray for one another and the people of Hungerford and some of the evening groups finish with a glass of wine. It’s a great night out! I love being in a home group and over the years they have helped me to grow in my faith.

If you feel you still have more questions than answers, then Alpha is for you. Alpha meets on Wednesday at 7.30pm at the back of church and everyone is welcome. It starts again on Wed 14 January. The A of Alpha stands for all question allowed. No question is too threatening, and no question is too trivial.

We are looking forward to seeing you at one or the other.
