What do you know about the Holy Spirit?
Thursday 30th April 2026 10:12
The Spirit of God is the breath of God, and he was involved in creation when God breathed the breath of life into Adam and he became a living being.
In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit came on particular people, such as Bezalel to give him skill in all kinds of crafts, and for a particular task, such as making the tabernacle. In the same way the Holy Spirit came on the prophet Isaiah and inspired him to write "The Spirit of the LORD is upon me… to preach good news"
The prophet Joel also predicted a time when God would pour out his Spirit on all people sons and daughters, old and young and that prophecy was fulfilled at the first Pentecost. The church was all gathered in one place when there was a sound like a violent wind and all 120 people were filled with the Holy Spirit. Peter stood up to preach, and it must have been a good talk, because 3000 were added to the church that day. The Holy Spirit had empowered them and they became courageous witnesses.
This year Pentecost is on Sunday 24 May and we would love you to invite you to join us at:-
